I sat down in front of the MPC to put some work in for Raw Beats Vol. 6 (pre-order for Raw Beats Vol. 5 vinyl launch June 1st) but ended up listening to some 14 year old music that I don’t even remember making. I remember the project, but don’t remember most the music on it.
Between 2010 and 2012, I had beef with three rapper; one over non-payment for some artwork I did for the, one for attempting to shit on me when they asked about a beat they like but told me that I wasn’t worth being paid for it, and the other for calling themselves mad at me because I called them out publicly (on a older version of this site) about expecting free beats just because they knew me (in middle school) and me not going for it just because their money wasn’t right at the moment.
The project was completely different than what the title would suggest besides the two intro tracks; the rest was my typical sample-based beats that wete mostly smooth boom-bap-ish. But I had a statement to make and Jazmine and my photographer buddy Jennifer were down to contribute to it.
Thinking about re-releasing some of this old music, possibly under a different project title. We’ll see where I am when I finish Raw Beats Vol. 6.
